Men’s Soccer Secures 4-2 Sun Conference Victory Over Warner

LAKE WALES, Fla. — The SCAD men's soccer team earned a 4-2 road victory over Warner University on Saturday night in Sun Conference action.
 
RECORDS: The Bees improve to 2-8-0 overall and 2-0-0 in Sun Conference play, while the Royals fall to 2-4-5 overall and 0-1-1 SUN.
 
SCAD wasted no time asserting control in the opening minutes of the contest. Sebastian Gomez put the Bees on the board in the third minute, converting a setup from Moritz Zettl to take an early 1-0 advantage. Less than nine minutes later, the pair connected again as Gomez found the back of the net in the 12th minute off another assist from Zettl to double the lead to 2-0.
 
Warner responded midway through the first half, striking in the 20th minute to pull within one before finding an equalizer in the 33rd minute to tie the match at 2-2. However, SCAD regained the lead just before halftime when pressure in the attack forced a Warner own goal in the 44th minute, giving the Bees a 3-2 edge at the break.
 
Both defenses battled through a tight second half before SCAD put the game away in the 83rd minute. Daire Russell struck for his first goal of the season off an assist from Tim Rothe to extend the margin to 4-2 and seal the conference win.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: SCAD finished the match with 15 overall shots, putting eight on goal, while holding Warner to 11 total shots with three on target.
 
Sebastian Gomez sparked the SCAD offense with two goals on three shots, placing two on frame. Moritz Zettl delivered a multi-assist performance with two helpers while adding three shots with two on target.
 
Daire Russell tallied a goal on his lone shot of the evening, and Tim Rothe registered an assist. Lucas Braganca recorded three shots, including a strike that hit the crossbar in the opening half, while Nicolas Lozano added two shots.
 
Goalkeeper Max Keller played the full 90 minutes in goal for the Bees, making one save to secure the victory.
