HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — The SCAD Savannah men's soccer team opened its season on Friday night, falling 5-1 to No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett at the SCAD Athletic Complex.
RECORDS: The Bees are now 0-1-0, while the Grizzlies start the season 1-0-0.
Georgia Gwinnett jumped out to a fast start, striking in the ninth and 12th minutes to build an early 2-0 advantage.
SCAD responded in the 19th minute when
Kimi Husler scored his first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies answered with back-to-back goals in the 22nd and 27th minutes to take a 4-1 lead into halftime.
The Bees held steady defensively for much of the second half, restricting further damage until Georgia Gwinnett added a final tally in the 90th minute.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: SCAD finished the match with 10 overall shots, putting three on goal, while
Kimi Husler led the SCAD attack with a team-high four shots, placing two on goal and netting the team's lone score.
Lejs Plicanic tallied two shots with one on target, while
Sebastian Gomez added two shots.
