MOBILE, Ala. — The SCAD men's soccer team fell 3-0 on the road against the University of Mobile on Saturday night.
RECORDS: The Bees drop to 0-4-0 on the season, while Mobile moves to 2-1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Mobile struck first in the 18th minute to claim an early 1-0 advantage. SCAD responded with multiple scoring chances before the break, as
Lejs Plicanic forced a save in the 20th minute before
Kimi Husler and
Tim Rothe each put shots on frame.
Goalkeeper
Max Keller recorded five saves in the opening half to keep the Bees within a single strike heading into halftime.
SCAD came out aggressive in the second half, with
Lejs Plicanic testing the keeper again in the 46th minute. The Bees nearly leveled the match in the 66th minute when a header attempt from
Paul Brophy hit the post.
The match swung in the 72nd minute when SCAD was reduced to 10 men following a red card issued to
Tim Rothe. Despite playing a man down, SCAD continued to press forward, earning multiple corner kicks and generating opportunities from
Sebastian Gomez,
Wenzel Lindmoser, and
Kimi Husler. However, Mobile capitalized on the advantage late in the contest, scoring goals in the 84th and 86th minutes to seal the result.
