No. 1 Women’s Golf Opens Season with Win

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 1 SCAD women's golf team opened the season at the Wildcat Fall Invitational and is coming home with the win.
 
TOURNAMENT INFORMATION:
  • Location: West Lafayette, Ind.
  • Format: Three rounds, two on Monday and one on Tuesday
  • Par: 71
  • Yardage: 6003
  • Teams: 9
  • Individuals: 51
TEAM RESULTS: The Bees finished day one in second-place with a two-round score of 609 (+33). No. 3 Dalton State was leading with a two-round score of 303 (+27).
 
In the final round, SCAD shot the second-lowest round (297 (+9)) of the day to finish the tournament in first-place with a total score of 906 (+42), two strokes ahead of No. 3 Dalton State and No. 5 Marion (Ind.) who tied for second with a score of 908 (+44).
 
INDIVIDUAL RESULTS: Yunyi Luo finished the three-round tournament tied for first-place with a score of 217 (74, 72, 71) and won the playoff to earn the Individual Title.
 
Luo and Taylor's Eleanor Schuitema faced off on the par 4 hole 10 and both parred, Luo birdied the par 4 hole 11 to earn the win.
 
Sharon Shan tied for sixth with a score of 225 (80, 73, 72) and with her finish, earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team along with Yunyi Luo.
 
Madi Saxton tied for 25th with a score of 233 (76, 80, 77).
 
Jessica Wang and Maria Barcos tied for 34th with their respective scores of 237 (82, 78, 77) and 237 (77, 79, 81).
 
WHAT'S NEXT?  The Bees will compete at the Sun Conference Preview on September 21-22 in Lacanto, Fla.
