Menford Owusu enters his fifth season as Head Women's Tennis Coach at SCAD for the 2026-27 campaign after being named to lead the program in December 2022. During his tenure, Owusu has transformed SCAD Atlanta Women's Tennis into one of the premier programs in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and an emerging national contender, highlighted by an ITA Cup National Championship, an AAC Tournament Championship, school records, multiple national rankings, and numerous individual and academic honors.

Before SCAD Atlanta, Owusu began his collegiate coaching career at Southeastern University, where he served as an assistant coach and helped guide the women's program to the first national ranking in school history. He later worked as a Developmental and Performance Coach at the Angelica Gavaldon Tennis Academy in Coronado, Calif., and the Galindo Tennis Academy in Lakeland, Fla. Upon returning to Georgia, he served as a Teaching Professional and Director of Teams at Windy Hill Athletic Club before becoming the Head Tennis Professional at Chattahoochee Country Club.

Owusu brings a wealth of international playing experience to the collegiate coaching ranks. A native of Ghana, he was ranked among the Top 200 juniors in the world by the ITF and competed extensively on the international junior and professional circuits, with multiple singles and doubles titles.

Owusu also represented Ghana in 13 Davis Cup ties, competing at the highest level of international team tennis.

Owusu's collegiate playing career was short, yet significant. At Georgia Perimeter College, he became the No. 1-ranked junior college player in the nation, captured the NJCAA Individual National Championship, earned All-American honors, and was selected as an ITA All-Star. He later transferred to Southeastern University, where he competed on the soccer team, and graduated with degrees in Psychology and Theology.

Owusu remains active in the Atlanta tennis/soccer communities and continues to mentor student-athletes both on and off the court, emphasizing competitive excellence, academic achievement, and personal growth.
