A 7-2 victory is just what the Bees needed as they moved on in the winner's bracket of The Sun Conference Championship. But things did not look good for SCAD early. While the fans were still getting settled in their seats, Ave Maria was flashing their offense.
Sam White was on the mound for SCAD, but it seemed that she was not in a good rhythm at the beginning of the game.

The first Gyrenes' hitter singled up the middle. White walked the second hitter. But the big blow was a triple by Ave Maria's third batter. Two runs had scored and there was a runner on third with no one out. It was a time for White to re-gather her thoughts. When the next batter sent a fly ball to
Kylie Rash in right field, it looked like a sure sacrifice fly. But Rash fired a strike to catcher
Nirana Singh just in time to catch the runner trying to score the third run. When the third out was made, SCAD was down 2-0 and it could have been worse.
I do not know what took place in the dugout in the bottom half of the inning, but whatever was said translated into payback. And it came quickly. Singh led off with a single and then stole second. Rash followed wtih an RBI single and took second on an Ave Maria error.
Jessaca Spears sacrificed to put Rash at third.
Brittany Gonzales then hit a sacrifice fly to bring Rash home. In a matter of minutes SCAD had tied the score at 2-2. And they never looked back.
White settled in and the Bees got comfortable. In their third inning Rash singled, Spears singled, and Gonzales doubled both of them home.
Olivia Kline jumped into the mix with an RBI single and SCAD finally had their lead. Score after 3 innings - SCAD 5, Ave Maria 2.
That was all the White needed. She pitched lights out the rest of the way. But SCAD added two more runs in the six when Singh reached on a single, was sacrificed to second by Rash. A single by Spears got her to third. Gonzales knocked her in via a sacrifice fly. A wild pitch and a final RBI single by
Krista Ross made the score 7-2. And that was the final score.
Sam White had won her fifth game. Singh, Rash, Spears, and Kline had two hits each. But the RBI leader was
Brittany Gonzales who totalled 4 runs batted in.
A good night's sleep and the Bees are back on the field tomorrow for an 11:30 am start against USCB. Let's stay hot Bees!
