The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2012 Softball All-America teams, selected by the NAIA All-America committee. The Sun Conference had one honoree on the All-America roster, as well as six members on the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete team.
Jessaca Spears earned Honorable Mention All-America status in 2012 after her second straight Sun Conference Player of the Year award. Spears, a senior from Sugarland, Texas helped the SCAD Bees to a 23-10 overall record this season, batting .450 on 45 hits, four home runs, 19 RBIs and 33 runs scored. She slugged .650 from the plate, recorded 67 putouts and 45 assists while turning four double plays.
In addition to Spears' All-America honor, the Bees had two of its players honored as Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes. In order to qualify for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete Award, student-athletes must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
