HARDEEVILLE, S.C.- No. RV SCAD Women's Soccer (2-1-1) pick up landslide victory over Thomas University (1-1), Sunday afternoon.
Thomas took an early lead in the eighth minute when midfielder Miasandra Mauro converted an unassisted strike to put the visiting Nighthawks ahead 1-0. SCAD responded quickly, scoring five unanswered goals. The Bees netted the equalizer in the 13th minute when
Saga Biorklund found the back of the net.
Cali Wuestefeld delivered the go-ahead goal in the 16th minute, burying an unassisted goal to send SCAD into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
The Bees pulled away with relentless offensive pressure in the second half. Wuestefeld struck again in the 56th minute off a pass from
Haidyn Jenkins to extend the cushion to 3-1. Jenkins added a goal of her own in the 70th minute, converting a penalty kick following a Thomas foul in the box.
Lovisa Henell sealed the victory less than two minutes later, finishing a pass from
Wilma Hedenberg with plenty of green grass in front of her in the 72nd minute to complete the five-goal surge.
SCAD dominated the overall statistical breakdown, outshooting Thomas University 22-9 overall and 7-3 in shots on target while holding a 4-1 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Goalkeeper
Saga Bryntesson earned the win between the posts for SCAD with two saves on three shots faced over 90 minutes, while Thomas goalkeeper Chantelle Thomson recorded two saves in net.
The Bees are back in action on home turf for the Coca-Cola Classic Tournament with a 6:30 p.m. kick off vs. West Virginia University Institute of Technology.
