LEBANON, Tenn.- No. 24 SCAD Women's Soccer (5-2-1) fell to No. 19 Cumberland University (7-2-1), 2-1 after heartbreaking second half goal, Sunday afternoon.
The Phoenix took seven shots in the first half and found the back netting off the foot of Victoria Collins in the 22nd minute. The Bees matched the shot total with one being on frame. Cumberland took the 1-0 lead into the half.
SCAD dominated the time of possession in the first part of the second half. The Bees tied the game at one all with a goal from
Ella Nilsson. She fielded the ball off a Phoenix defender just outside the 30-yard box and drilled the upper 90 on the left side of the goal in the 58th minute of play. This is Nilsson's first goal of the season. Cumberland retakes the lead in the 73rd minute with a goal from Lilly Adair for the 2-1 lead.
SCAD totaled 14 shots with five on goal to the Cumberlands 12 shots and six on goal. The Bees also led the corner kicks at a 3-2 margin. Starting keeper
Saga Bryntesson notched four saves through 90 minutes of play.
The Bees are back in action to kick off Sun Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 26 as they take on Webber International University at 1 p.m.
