BABSON PARK, Fla. – Sebastian Gomez's hat trick propelled men's soccer to a 5-1 victory over Webber International in Sun Conference opener on Saturday.
RECORDS: SCAD is 1-8-0 (1-0-0 SUN), while Webber International moves to 2-5-1 (0-1-0 SUN).
Webber International struck first in the 14th minute to take an early 1-0 lead.
SCAD responded in the 22nd minute when
Sebastian Gomez converted a penalty kick to level the match at 1-1. Gomez struck again in the 31st minute, finishing an assist from
Tim Rothe to give the Bees a 2-1 advantage going into halftime.
The Bees blew the match open late in the second half. In the 80th minute, Gomez completed his hat trick by connecting on another setup from Rothe to extend the margin to 3-1.
Nicolas Lozano added an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute to make it 4-1, and
Lucas Braganca capped the scoring outburst in the 84th minute with an unassisted strike to seal the 5-1 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: SCAD controlled the offensive tempo, outshooting Webber International 15-9 and putting 13 shots on target compared to three for the host.
Sebastian Gomez led the attack with a hat trick, posting five shots with four on goal.
Nicolas Lozano matched Gomez with five shots and four on goal while netting one score.
Lucas Braganca scored on his lone shot of the match, and
Tim Rothe dished out two assists.

Daire Russell each registered a shot on target.
Goalkeeper
Max Keller played the full 90 minutes in net, making two saves to secure the victory.
